Advent 2021

An Advent message from Jo Clarke and John Noble,
past and current Development Directors of Pax Christi USA

Dear friends,

For nearly 50 years, Pax Christi USA members like you have been at the forefront of the Catholic movement for peace and justice.

During this season of Advent, as we anticipate the birth of Christ, we are called to imagine and hope for a new world for all. A world where housing, healthcare, food, and security are prioritized before expensive nuclear weapons and immoral wars. A world where migrants are welcomed, workers are paid a living wage, and racial justice renews the face of the earth.

It is you, Pax Christi USA supporters, who will help to bring about this transformation. Some of you like me (Jo) have been in this work for decades. Some of you like me (John) have only recently joined our movement. But we are all imagining a nonviolent way of living together.

Our intergenerational movement for justice is strong, and we are growing towards our 50th anniversary with anticipation and Gospel hope. Will you continue to support our journey?

Click here to make a secure donation to our work right now. (Please choose “Advent-Christmas Appeal 2021” from the drop-down menu next to the “Use My Donation For” prompt.)

You can help build our movement by making a donation to Pax Christi USA’s Advent- Christmas Appeal today. As we prepare to celebrate our 50th anniversary, perhaps you will increase your gift or consider a monthly commitment. Whether it’s a monthly gift or an annual gift of $50, $500, or $5,000, your gift will touch many lives and make our dream of a new world a reality. Please be as generous as you can.

Through the pandemic, we have learned what it means to build a faithful movement for peace and justice. As Pope Francis said in a recent address to social justice leaders like you,

“If all those who, out of love, struggled together against the pandemic
could also dream of a new world together, how different things would be!”

During our 2021 National Conference, Pax Christi USA’s Teacher of Peace Fr. Bryan Massingale challenged us to dream of a world that confronts white nationalism, the gravest threat to peace today. COVID-19, racial injustice, and the climate crisis have taught us just how important it is to foster global solidarity and democracy to protect peace, public health, and the planet.

Help us confront the rise of white nationalism by quickly & securely making a donation today!

For nearly 50 years, Pax Christi USA members like you have worked to imagine a better world:

  • You have worked for peace, calling for an end to all wars and to the nuclear arms race that threatens our collective future. This year, you advocated for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, including supporting faith leaders and scientists who called on President Biden to abolish nuclear weapons and choose diplomacy.
  • You have worked for justice, building on the commitment we made in 1999 to become an anti-racist organization with the conviction that personal and systemic racism perpetrates deep spiritual and social brokenness and endangers all of creation.
  • You have worked for cooperation, taking to heart Olga Segura’s message at our national conference about how Catholics can be part of the movement to resist racism. This fall, you supported the Caravan of Mothers of Disappeared Migrants to address the root causes of migration with policymakers and the public.
  • You have worked for solidarity, supporting transformative justice, voting rights, and creative peacemaking in many communities. From the legislative advocacy of Pax Christi South Dakota to the anti-racism work of Pax Christi Little Rock, new forms of solidarity have been at the heart of your work.

Advent is the liturgical season of new beginnings, and Pax Christi USA members like you are following Pope Francis’ call to dream of a better world, in our parishes and in our streets. Your donation supports this holy work as we prepare to start our Jubilee in 2022, celebrating our 50th anniversary! Remember, every gift, large or small, is important. Make a secure donation today at this link!

Whether you’re a long-time peacemaker or a new justice seeker, we are grateful for your gift to our community. Thank you for being a faithful supporter and companion dreamer on this journey.

Wishing you a peace-filled Christmas,
