During his weekly general audience on October 18, Pope Francis expressed deep concern about the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, and invited everyone to join him on Friday, October 27 for a day of prayer, fasting, and penance.

All Christians, those who are members of other religions, and all those who advocate for peace are invited to participate as they see fit.

A special hour of prayer will be held at 6 PM (Rome time; 12 PM Eastern) in St. Peter’s Square, with the goal of invoking peace for the world. “I invite all the particular Churches to take part by organizing similar initiatives which involve the people of God,” Pope Francis said.

  1. I seems as if evil has the upper hand in all quarters, not so. We are united in love .We pray and act not for victory but for peace laced in compassion and justice.
