Media statement from Johnny Zokovitch, Executive Director of Pax Christi USA, in response to the U.S. drone strike in Kabul on Sunday, August 29th:

“As The Washington Post and other media outlets report on the deaths of at least ten Afghan civilians — including young children — as a result of a second U.S. drone strike in Kabul, Pax Christi USA calls on the Biden Administration to cease the use of lethal drones. The death of civilians is not an unfortunate aberration; it is part and parcel of the normalized use of lethal weapons and morally unacceptable,” stated Johnny Zokovitch, Executive Director of Pax Christi USA.

“Such indiscriminate killing just furthers the cycle of violence, undermines real human security and traumatizes survivors. What we are seeing now after twenty years of military occupation in Afghanistan should, at the very least, cause our leaders to pause and question to what end more arms, more bombs, and more death will lead.”

  1. Thank you for your statement, Johnny. As you make clear, it continues to be imperative to create and nourish a new perspective on creation–one that is embraced by all nations that respects our planet and its environment. As you state, turning away from the acceptability of arms and armed conflict can be a start. Individually and on all levels we must support this effort internationally. Peace!

  3. Thank you ,Johnny, for sending out the essence of Pax Christi ‘s existence in this world so overwhelmed by war. Your appeal to President Biden is so needed and your demand for him to halt the use of drones is supported wholeheartedly. Rita Raboin SND de Namur . Beverly Chapter , Beverly,MA
