In the 60 minute webinar, author, activist, Catholic Worker and Pax Christi USA Teacher of Peace Art Laffin will explain why he wrote his latest book, The Risk of the Cross, and focus on the faith response to the nuclear threat and the imperative to embrace Gospel nonviolence and work for nuclear abolition. Msgr. Ray East will speak about the connection between poverty, racism, militarism and nuclear weapons and Gospel nonviolence. Msgr. East, also a Pax Christi USA Teacher of Peace and nationally-known speaker and evangelist, is pastor of St. Teresa Avila parish in Washington, D.C. He has served as the director of the Office of Black Catholics and Evangelization for the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. Pax Christi USA Ambassador of Peace and former co-president of Pax Christi International Marie Dennis will talk about the Vatican stance on disarmament, Gospel nonviolence and just peace.

The panel will be moderated by Nick Mele, former US diplomat and Pax Christi USA advisor. There will be time for questions after the initial presentations.
