At the Ignatian Family Teach-in in Washington, D.C. this past weekend, Pax Christi USA staff members Sr. Anne-Louise Nadeau, SNDdeN and Rachel Roa presented a workshop. Here is the description of their workshop with a link to the handout provided.
We will explore how ‘Dreaming is dangerous.’ Catholic Social Teaching is all about dreaming beyond the boundaries of neighborhood, school, city, church and world. Dreams ignite passion which leads to action for people we have been taught to ignore. Dreaming is a dangerous activity.
To ‘Move beyond the Margins’ is risky business. It means seeing with new eyes, listening with new ears, in short it invites us to transformation…an equally risky endeavor.
We have all been educated that giving is a good thing, but is that enough? This workshop will present the 4 Pax Christi USA initiatives as a process to accompany people who are demanding rights as human beings that they are entitled to.
This is an excellent worksheet on nonviolence. I printed it out and hope to use it. Can we get a report of how the workshop worked in terms of student involvement, input, criticism?
Was there time to get to the nitty-gritty of “Just War” that Jesuit universities and colleges use to side track American responsibility for war? Or is the medieval ‘Just War’ concept simply embedded into Jesuit theology with little hope for change?

Maximum number of students who could attend a workshop was 50 due to space limitations. We had about 48 who were present. The audience was mostly high school and college students so the examples and approach were geared to that age level.
There was good interaction among the participants and we got the sense that these students ‘got it.’ They were very good with responses and they left the workshop pensive and reflective which we felt was a good sign.
We only had 50 min. to present and did not get into the just war theory.
