From Nov. 27-Dec. 3, Pax Christi USA Ambassadors of Peace Scott Wright (with the Pax Christi USA immigration working group) and Jean Stokan (with the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas Justice Team) will lead an immersion experience to El Paso, TX and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.
The proposed program includes:
- joining clergy and lay workers on Saturday, November 28, for their monthly trip to the desert to commemorate migrants who have died during their journey.
- learning about the current state of asylum.
- meeting with human rights and pastoral workers who visit immigrants in detention.
- attending, if possible, a vigil at Camp East Montana at Fort Bliss, the largest detention center in the region.
- a day’s visit in Juarez (US passport required.)

The cost is $690, which includes accommodation for six nights at the Columban Mission Center, breakfast and dinner, local transportation, and a donation to the Columban Border Ministry Team; it does not include travel to El Paso. Each participant is responsible for booking and paying for their flight to El Paso International Airport; transportation from/to the airport will be provided.
