The Pax Christi International Fund for Peace (PCIFP), located in Washington, D.C., has an opening for the position of Executive Director/Fundraiser.
PCIFP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax exempt organization founded to financially support the work of Pax Christi International’s global network of 120 organizations promoting active nonviolence and just peace on six continents.
Pax Christi International is the international Catholic peace and justice movement. With an international secretariat in Brussels, its members sponsor a wide variety of programs and projects for peace at a grassroots level.
PCIFP is seeking a full-time Executive Director/Fundraiser at an important stage in its development as it transitions from a volunteer-led organization to a more professional and sustainable framework in working to increase funding support for Pax Christi International. This position is responsible for all aspects of development work in the United States for PCIFP, as well as related financial record keeping and bookkeeping with the support of a volunteer service provider. The development work includes donor appeals, donor stewardship, major gifts stewardship, foundation fundraising, grant writing, donor data tracking and general development communications. The position reports to the PCIFP Board of Directors. It receives strategic support from, and collaborates closely with, the Pax Christi International Fund Development Officer.

A partial list of the responsibilities of the Executive Director includes:
- Provide operational leadership and oversight. Develop financial plans and budgets. Oversee financial transactional activities including receiving/depositing donations, wiring revenues to Pax Christi International, and associated record-keeping. Ensure timely preparation of IRS 990
forms, state registrations and periodic audits. Oversee maintenance and periodic updating of PCIFP website. - Coordinate content, timing, and execution of donor appeals (direct mail, online and other) and donor campaigns reflecting strategies of Pax Christi International.
- Oversee the development of fundraising materials, including the case for funding, planned giving materials, donor communications and development content for the web site and other vehicles of communication
- Develop and implement strategies to identify and cultivate major/significant donors. Communicate/meet with donors to build relationships and directly solicit financial support.
- Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundations and other sources, including research, evaluation and cultivation of prospects, in collaboration with Pax Christi International staff.
- Oversee recording and acknowledgement of donations and appropriate use of donor funds, as well as the tracking of data and generation of periodic reports to the PCIFP Board and the Pax Christi International leadership.Participate in opportunities and activities that embody our organizational commitment to peacemaking, nonviolence and social justice.
A partial list of qualifications includes:
- The ability to relate justice issues to spirituality and the Catholic faith
- Knowledge of a range of domestic and international justice and peace issues
- Demonstrated commitment to nonviolence/just peace traditions and to anti-racism work
- Formal training in fundraising preferred (either certifications, professional development, coursework, or a college degree)
- At least five years of experience with a proven record of success in areas of donor cultivation and solicitation, including grant writing, major donor cultivation, and development appeals.
- Excellent communication skills-oral, written and interpersonal
- Proven record in development and fundraising, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and procurement of major gifts
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally
