Pax Christi USA has been an active part of the Back from the Brink Campaign for some time. On Wednesday, April 19, Back from the Brink is calling on all of us who are concerned about the growing threat of nuclear weapons to contact our members of Congress and urge them to cosponsor and/or support H. Res. 77, a resolution introduced by Representatives Jim McGovern (Massachusetts-D) and Earl Blumenauer (Oregon-D).
So far, about a dozen members of Congress have cosponsored the resolution, which calls on the Biden Administration to start acknowledging and supporting the Treaty to Prohibit Nuclear Weapons.

I just called Rep Meuser’s office (PA-09) to urge his support. Thanks to all who support this Resolution. I have been concerned about nuclear weapons since I was a child. I wrote my bachelor’s thesis on the ethical issues of the possession and use of such weapons.

I just called Rep Rick Larsen’s (WA) office. The staffer who answered the phone said he was unaware of this legislation! So important to make our calls! I saw that another WA representative was a cosponsor so I urged Rep Larsen to join her as a co-sponsor.
I called my Congressman, Bobby Scott. ‘Had to leave a message. I left my full contact information & requested that he co-sponsor or support H. Res. 77.
I emailed Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD, CD-08) to thank him for already being a co-sponsor.

My husband, Michael Drohan and I both called the D.C. office of Rep. Summer Lee, PA 12 and spoke with Tracy (receptionist). She took my name and email to correspond with me in the future concerning HR 77.
I left a message at Rep. Zach Nunn’s office.
I called Representative Marc Molinaro(NY-District 19), spoke with an officeperson and left a message encouraging M. Molinaro to support H. Res. 77. I also urged the congressperson to use his influence in any way possible to work to achieve the signing of the TPNW by the other nuclear possessing nations. Peace.
