For months leading into the general election and for the weeks since early November, election workers, local and state election officials, and volunteers have worked tirelessly to sustain trust in our democracy. Some have done their jobs two or three times over so that voters can be assured of the integrity of the outcome.

Monday was a benchmark in the election certification process. The worst fears about this election failed to materialize. Defying the combined challenges of the pandemic, a chaotic primary season, foreign interference and presidential sabotage, the 2020 election proved to be one of the cleanest and, according to senior U.S. officials, the most secure in our nation’s history.

Despite the pandemic, election workers put their lives on the line to do their jobs, allowing us to cast our votes safely and securely, and then counting every one of them to ensure our voices could be heard. But a concerted effort by some politicians hoping to distract us from their failure to deliver COVID relief is sowing chaos and driving division. Their false claims about election workers undermine faith in our systems and even endanger their lives. It is wrong.

This Thursday, Dec. 17th join faithful citizens across the country for a day of action to say THANK YOU to our election heroes.  Let them know that the loudest voices don’t reflect what’s in the hearts of Americans. It doesn’t take much to plan a small nonpartisan gesture to make your election officials feel appreciated and to let them know we’ve got their backs. Call them, deliver a letter, drop by with a literal sign of gratitude to display at their office. Or share virtually from this digital toolkit to tweet or post your appreciation between 12pm ET – 1pm ET.
