On Friday, June 26th, Pax Christi USA hosted a webinar exploring how to build peace and understanding between the United States and Iran. The webinar, Citizen Diplomacy:
Building peace and understanding between the U.S. and Iran, featured Nabi Sonboli, Counselor at the Iranian Mission to the UN in New York, with commentary and facilitation by Mary Yelenick and Doug Hostetter, Pax Christi International UN Team representatives.

In light of the long history of tension between the U.S. and Iran, this one-hour webinar discussed possible opportunities for rapprochement in the context of current international relations and the global pandemic that has affected the entire global community. Nabi Sonboli is a counselor at the Iranian Mission to the UN in New York and a representative of the Institute for Political and International Affairs (IPIS), one of Iran’s oldest think tanks. He is a graduate of Beheshti University in Tehran (MA) and has published widely in Iranian and Western journals. Mary Yelenick and Doug Hostetter are representatives of the Pax Christi International UN Team and facilitated the conversation with Mr. Sonboli.
