13thEach week, since so many of us are under “stay at home” orders, self-quarantined, on lockdown, etc during this pandemic, Pax Christi USA will recommend a “movie of the week” for us to watch and discuss in solidarity. We’re calling it our “#AloneTogether Movie of the Week. We’ll try and set up additional events for people to share their reactions and thoughts to the movie. This week, in observance of the anniversary of the martyrdom of MLK on April 4th, we did a poll on social media asking for folks to choose a movie highlighting civil rights. Folks chose the documentary “13th” which “explores the ‘intersection of race, justice, and mass incarceration in the United States;’ it is titled after the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, adopted in 1865, which abolished slavery throughout the United States and ended involuntary servitude except as a punishment for conviction of a crime.” Check it out on Netflix here.

Check off that you’re “going” on our event page on Facebook by clicking here.

Stay tuned for a new movie next week and feel free to make your own recommendations in the comments section here!
