Nearly 250 people gathered at the Catholic University of America last night for “Peace and Reconciliation: Spiritual Reflections a Decade after 9/11.” The event was organized by Pax Christi USA and Pax Christi Metro D.C.-Baltimore, and included the recognition of Colleen Kelly of September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows as the 2011 Pax Christi USA Teacher of Peace, and keynote speaker Jim Wallis, best-selling author and editor-in-chief of Sojourners magazine.

The event included prayer, music, and a silent auction in addition to speeches from Wallis and Kelly.

We invite folks who attended the event to share with others what you gleaned from the program by leaving your comments in the comments section below. Thanks!

  1. floating … (reflections on September 11, 2001)

    “there you are”, distant movement
“hiding around the corner”, of my mind
    I see the smile peek
Flags unfurled, gallant in their repose
    I see the colors
    wink from the direction
    they have been
    Coming from, not going to
    a rubble so strewn, weeping

    I watch

    “there you are”, joy abounds
“let me see you”, color my tears
    I touch the smile
    Flags flutter in the breeze
I see life, we heal, as
    clouds float amidst the noise
white layers against a field of blue
    They wave, they soothe
    and say goodbye

    I wait
