All are welcome to join the four-part Literary Circle for Liberation study circle hosted by the Pax Christi USA Indigenous Solidarity working group and Pax Christi Anti-Racism Team (PCART), to be held on September 15, September 30, October 13, and October 27.

The group will hold a vital, transformative community book discussion on “The Land is Not Empty: Following Jesus in Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery” by Sarah Augustine. Rooted in Pax Christi’s traditional model of “Pray-Study-Act,” this reading circle offers an opportunity to examine the ongoing harms of the Doctrine of Discovery—the 15th-century legal and theological framework that gave Christian governments a perceived moral right to seize lands populated by Indigenous peoples.
Author Sarah Augustine, a Pueblo woman and justice advocate, challenges us to look past purely symbolic gestures to discover the scriptural “Jesus Way” of active solidarity, ecological restoration, and genuine systemic repair. She will join the group for the final discuss on October 27.
