Dear Dave, Johnny and friends at PCUSA,
I just went to the computer to turn it off, to find that on this holiday Saturday, PCUSA is looking for a new executive director. Dear friends, I am puzzled that the first notice was not that Dave was leaving, and some word to accompany his resignation. Of course, he has every right to go to the next phase of his life, but after so many years, this should be the first announcement… not a job posting. I hope there is time to recifiy this in these next few days.
In addition, with all affection and respect for y’all.. a mere month of search and month to start seems very fast. I hope and pray that Dave is all right, and that the organization we love will find a good director. Please find a graceful way to announce Dave’s departure, and consider a longer search period, and a search committee. I would volunteer to be part of such a committee, if that were helpful, and I am sure others would as well.
Know of my prayer for all involved, and my great affection for all the PCUSA staff, those I know, and those I had not gotten a chance to know.
IN Christ’s peace,
Mary Beth Moore, SC
