The Catholic Nonviolence Initiative of Pax Christi International and its Catholic Institute for Nonviolence are excited to announce “Gospel Nonviolence in Action,” a transformative online learning journey. Applications are open now — the introduction module will be held on April 25.

“Gospel Nonviolence in Action,” a 14-week certification course (Saturdays, April 25-August 8), invites us into a bold and life-giving way of responding to conflict—one rooted in courage, compassion, and active love. It is a path that breaks cycles of violence and injustice without retaliation, opening the door to healing and lasting peace.

We live in a world where violence is often seen as normal, even necessary. This mindset shapes how we relate to one another and to all living beings, contributing to a deep and ongoing crisis of human dignity and life. But there is another way.

This course is designed to inspire and equip you. Through fresh perspectives and practical tools, you’ll strengthen your ability to contribute meaningfully to a more just, humane, and compassionate world. Together, we will explore thoughtful analysis and action-oriented methods that help us rediscover our shared responsibility to protect and nurture life—embracing nonviolence not just as an idea, but as a way of living, a spirituality, a potential universal ethics and an effective method for personal and social transformation.

As a participant, you will join a diverse global community of learners. You will engage in rich conversations, share insights, deepen your questions, and collaboratively seek nonviolent responses to real-world challenges. Because true transformation does not happen alone—it grows through connection, dialogue, and learning together.

Each module of the course will have a duration of four synchronous hours in two sessions of two hours each, in addition to the time you wish to dedicate with your peers to deepen what has been learned and shared. On the platform you will have forums to be in touch and different materials and resources.

If you wish to receive a course Certification from the Catholic Institute for Nonviolence, you must attend all the modules live sessions and present a brief final project about what you are going to do with what you have learned.

These will be the contents to be covered:

  • Module 0. Welcome Session. Why Nonviolence Now? (April 25)
  • Module 1. What is Gospel Nonviolence? The Spirituality of Nonviolence (May 2 and 9)
