In 2020, Pax Christi USA’s then-Deputy Director Sr. Dianna Ortiz, OSU (the 2000 Pax Christi USA Teacher of Peace) wrote this prayer for the U.S. elections, inviting us “to be Gospel-informed voters, who stand on the side of justice and truth.”
This newly-designed prayer card is excellent for outreach in your parish, school, university and community, and is a great way to respond to the division, anxiety and tension that accompany the election season in our nation. The prayer reads, in part:
“May our faith guide us to vote for genuine servant leaders, who, like Jesus, will welcome the stranger, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the prisoner, embrace the sick and dying, and promote peace and nonviolence.”
The prayer card is an excellent gift for first-time voters and a good way to introduce others to the role that conscience and faith play in our political process.
This card is 3.5″ x 5.5″ with action suggestions. It comes shrink-wrapped in packages of 100.

We are fortunate to have Daniel Francis as Development Director, as evidenced by his above letter of introduction. And yes, we profess and try to live nonviolence in our hearts, words, and actions and the prayer cards for gospel-informed voters are part of that goal. However, many, especially young adults of conscience, can not and will not vote for either of the leading candidates, one who lives by verbal violence and the other, our Catholic brother, who has aided and abetted the murder of thousands of Palestinian children.

The Democratic possibilities for a new presidential candidate have opened thank goodness. A new field of qualified people will confuse opposition. Fresh ideals and ideas should emerge and new life breathed into this contest. This is an answer to our prayers and we need to cooperate with this Grace . It’s is essential.
We just ordered the Election Prayer to pass out to family, friends, and new acquaintances.
