PCUSA-history

POSTPONED: We regret that we need to postpone this conversation due to a sudden emergency affecting one of our participants. We’ll announce a new date later and hope you can join us at some point in the new year. Thanks for your understanding.

As we start to wrap up the observance of our 50th anniversary year, you’ll have a few opportunities to mark the conclusion of our Jubilee over the next few weeks. One of these opportunities is a special webinar that grew out of Pax Christi USA’s intergenerational Peace Pairs program, an effort for mutual co-learning and accompaniment between peacemakers in their 20s and 30s and Ambassadors of Peace/founding members of our movement. Each of these seven pairs were invited to work on an outward-facing project together. One of those projects is this special webinar on “The Origins of Pax Christi USA”.

Join Pax Christi Young Adult Caucus member Ryan Di Corpo for an online conversation with Pax Christi USA founding member Joseph J. Fahey and Ambassador of Peace Janice Vanderhaar focused on the origins of our movement. The webinar will take place on Thursday, December 15 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

  • Janice Vanderhaar is a Pax Christi Ambassador of Peace and member of PCUSA since 1973. She was appointed the first coordinator of Pax Christi Memphis in 1974 and served two terms on the PCUSA National Council. She helped found the MK Gandhi Institute, and the Gerard A. Vanderhaar Symposium at Christian Brothers University.
  • Ryan Di Corpo is the managing editor of Outreach and co-coordinator of Pax Christi New York State. A graduate student at Northeastern University in Boston, his writings have appeared in America, The Washington Post, Boston College Magazine, Peace Review and American Catholic Studies.
