As part of the inter-generational focus for the 50th anniversary of Pax Christi USA, Ryan Di Corpo and Isaac Chandler have organized a series of video interviews with past recipients of the annual Pax Christi USA Teacher of Peace award.
Martin Sheen, Pax Christi USA’s 1999 Teacher of Peace, is an internationally acclaimed actor who has won many Emmy and Golden Globe awards (in addition to receiving dozens of nominations). His screen work has often reflected his personal commitment to social justice. He has participated in multiple civil disobedience actions for nonviolence and peace, often in company with Pax Christi members.
When Ryan DiCorpio asked me who I believed would be a good interview for the celebration of Pax Christ’s 50th anniversary I had no hesitation in saying Martin Sheen. Just seeing and hearing this interview cautions me to not brag that I was right. This interview is wonderful. Thank you Ryan and thank you Martin and Isaac. Every Catholic should watch and listen to this interview.
Thank you to Martin Sheen, Ryan and Isaac. His perspective is clear on the role of the Catholic Church in today’s national and global society. Are we Catholics( in general and including the leadership) ready to oppose the “system” on those matters involving the care of other humans and Creation? Peace.
Jesus did turn over a few tables in His time.
Martin, You should have been ordained!
