Tell your Senators it’s time to turn the page on a decade of war!

The Senate is currently considering the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act, and after Thanksgiving they will vote on several amendments. Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) has offered an amendment to accelerate the drawdown of U.S. troops from Afghanistan. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has offered an amendment to repeal the 2002 authorization for the Iraq War.

Ask your Senator to support the Merkley and Paul amendments!

After more than 10 years in Afghanistan, it is time to bring our troops home. American men and women in uniform have done everything asked of them. Today, Osama bin Laden is dead, al Qaeda has been significantly diminished, and the future of Afghanistan is firmly in the hands of the Afghan people. Now it’s time for our troops to come home.

In Iraq, the President has reaffirmed U.S. policy to remove all troops by the end of this year. Sen. Paul’s amendment is a responsible reflection of U.S. policy that will help ensure a complete drawdown of U.S. troops in Iraq. It is time to repeal the 2002 AUMF and finally turn the page on the Iraq War.

Please take a moment to ask your Senators to support the Merkley and Paul amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act!

  1. Senator Rand Paul – a tea-party republican has certainly put the lemon in this tea ! A sour war if allowed to end – will no longer sicken the spirits of those first Massachusetts Tea Party Patriots ! Who fought to make men – free ! Not to enslave the peasant peoples of the earth !
