I believe Dave Robinson is off base in his comments in The Peace Current. Specifically he said, “The time has come for Pax Christi USA to …. officially take an organizational stance against nuclear power.”
There is danger that this action would dilute our message for peace.
Also, current US attempts to tell others to not develop nuclear power could be seen as a strong economic injustice to poor countries such as North Korea thereby risking increasing international tensions toward war.
The nuclear power discussion is very complicated and should not be allowed to distract us from our main focus. Eliminate nuclear weapons! Eliminate all weapons! Leave the energy/environment arguments to other organizations.
