The Pax Christi USA Young Adult Caucus retreat is open to peacemakers in their 20s and 30s.
The world experiences “a third world war fought piecemeal,” says Pope Francis. This reality is visible both in open conflicts, like Sudan, Ukraine, and the genocide against Gaza, and in rising militarism, nationalism, and fascism. People at society’s margins and creation suffer most of all. To the world’s ills, the pope—following Jesus—offers the alternative of nonviolence as ”a spirituality, a constructive force, an effective method for social transformation, and a powerful way of life committed to the well-being of all.”

Gospel nonviolence is a narrow, complex, and trying path, to which we commit ourselves as an act of faith. To sustain this work, we invite you to join Pax Christi USA’s Young Adult Caucus for a weekend retreat. We will be guided by Psalm 46’s exhortation to “Come, behold the works of God,” who bears peace and brings justice, which we co-create through our lives and work.
- Date: August 23-25, 2024
- Location: The Stuart Center, Washington, DC
- Registration fee: $25 to $200, on sliding scale.
We will have time for celebrating liturgies, individual reflection, nonviolent witness, and solidifying community. All people in their 20s and 30s committed to nonviolence as a way of life are welcome to attend. We especially encourage new members to attend the in-person retreat!
Priority registration closes on July 15. After that, applications will be received on a rolling basis if there is space. To register, click here.
Participants will be asked to cover their own travel to/from Washington, D.C., one meal, and a retreat offering. Pax Christi USA helps subsidize these retreats significantly, which cost roughly $350 per participant. Participants are asked to contribute an offering between $25 and $200 based on their means.
Your participation is the priority. If costs would be prohibitive, please email PCYAC@paxchristiusa.org about scholarship options.
PCYAC’s commitment to inclusion: Rooted in Catholicism, the Young Adult Caucus is dedicated to a space that is anti-racist, affirming of LGBTQ identities, and accessible to all. We acknowledge these commitments as goals toward which we actively strive, not as ends already achieved. We hope you will journey together with us toward them.
