Kathy Kelly, Pax Christi USA’s 1998 Teacher of Peace, is one of the organizers of the Merchants of Death War Crimes Tribunal, which holds U.S. weapons manufacturers accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The opening online session took place on November 12; use this link to watch.

The entire tribunal will be live-streamed over consecutive weeks and will examine war crimes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Gaza, and Yemen. The role of lobbying, think tanks, the “revolving door,” and other means by which these predatory capitalists enrich themselves through war will be explored.
The tribunal is expected to last a total of four months with evidentiary videos being emailed to all participants weekly. Approximately every three weeks, a live meet-up session will be held for participants to discuss the evidence AND to learn how to take nonviolent action in their communities.
At the conclusion of all the evidence, the jurors will render a verdict during a live-streamed event tentatively to be held in February.
Testifying will be Cornel West, Richard Falk, Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, Norman Solomon, John Pilger, Jeremy Kuzmarov, Christian Sorensen, William Astore, Aisha Jumaan, Matt Aikens, Marie Dennis, Dr. Kelly Denton-Borhaug, and numerous others.

Is no one going to reply to this vitally important message from Kathy Kelly?
Are we cowards at heart? Anyone who witnessed President Biden yesterday when he reluctantly said that the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza should be spared could see by his body language how scared he was to say anything contrary to the wishes of PM Natanyahu; his garbled speech was not because of his age; it was because he fears losing the votes of the corporate arms dealers that Ms. Kelly has highlighted. Let’s face it, our Catholic president is a war criminal who is knowingly and cynically collaborating in the crime of genocide.

Kathy Kelly is a brave person and sends her example to us via Pax Christi. Her bravery and devotion to justice should remove the cloud from our eyes. We shouldn’t fear being critical of our government when it embarks on another fool’s journey of war and preparation for war as if there is no alternative called non violence. Our Leadership fears the Military Industrial Complex which unfortunately seems to be their keepers. The slate for top positions of Leadership in upcoming elections indicates there is something seriously wrong with what we call Democracy.. The workings of our nation are extremely complex. We only see the surface of an unjust economic system built on a foundation of violence. Thank you Kathy Kelly for your example of true bravery.
