The United Nations is calling on world leaders to take real steps to lead us off fossil fuels to protect people and the planet. This September, the UN Climate Ambition Summit in New York will gather world leaders to commit to phasing out fossil fuels.
On Sunday, September 17, thousands will take to the streets of New York to demand President Biden take bold action to #End Fossil Fuels.

The March calls on President Biden to:
- STOP FEDERAL APPROVALS for new fossil fuel projects and REPEAL permits for climate bombs like the willow project and the mountain valley pipeline.
- PHASE OUT FOSSIL FUEL DRILLING on our public lands and waters.
- DECLARE A CLIMATE EMERGENCY to halt fossil fuel exports and investments abroad, and turbo-charge the build-out of more just, resilient distributed energy (like rooftop and community solar).
- PROVIDE A JUST TRANSITION to a renewable energy future* that generates millions of jobs while supporting workers’ and community rights, job security, and employment equity.
*Our renewable energy future must not repeat the violence of the extractive past. Justice must ground the transition off fossil fuels to redress the climate, colonialist, racist, socioeconomic, and ecological injustices of the fossil fuel era.
I live in Manteca CA close to Sacramento or San Francisco. I am interested in participating in either City, if there is such a march in either City?
Thanks for your note! Unfortunately, no, it doesn’t look like similar marches are planned in other cities. The New York City event is closely tied to the UN climate meeting which will be taking place in NYC at that time.
This will be a wonderful and necessary event to express shared concerns of many individuals and groups–all seeking care for Creation. Peace to everyone involved in protecting and nourishing all of Creation!
