Fr. Steve Kelly was sentenced in Brunswick on Oct. 15 to 33 months incarceration, three years of supervised release and restitution ($33, 501 shared jointly with other defendants). He has served 30 months in pretrial confinement in Georgia jails so should have completed this sentence with the addition of accumulated good time. Steve still has to answer for a probation violation from a previous arrest so may be taken to Tacoma in Washington State to face the judge there. For the report of the sentencing, click here. Dennis Apel, who testified as Steve’s character witness, challenged the court for its idolatry of the Pentagon and muzzling of antinuclear defendants. His statement is included in previous report. Dennis also read Steve’s presentence statement before going into court. For a video of Patrick speaking outside of the court after Steve’s sentencing click this link.
Patrick O’Neill was sentenced on Oct 16 to 14 months in prison and the same probation and restitution. This is less time than he was expecting. He will have to self report to prison when ordered by the Bureau of Prisons within the next 90 days. He expects to go to Butner near his home in North Carolina. The report of the trial is here. The prepared testimony of his daughter, Bernadette, is here. Patrick’s full statement in court can be read here. Here’s a video of Patrick commenting on his sentence after court.
The remaining four defendants, Clare Grady, Martha Hennessy, Carmen Trotta and Mark Colville, are scheduled for sentencing on November 12 and 13. However, there may be further delays because of the virus situation. Liz McAlister was sentenced to time served (17 months) in June by video conferencing.
