Pax Christi International congratulates the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet for being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2015. The Quartet has offered a valuable contribution to establish a pluralistic democracy in Tunisia in the wake of the Jasmine Revolution of 2011. They supported the work of the constituent assembly, secured approval of the constitutional process among the Tunisian population, and helped to advance peaceful and democratic elections. The Quartet exercised its role as a mediator and driving force in four key sectors in the Tunisian society: work (Tunisian Confederation of Industry), welfare (Tunisian General Labour Union), rule of law (Tunisian Order of Lawyers), and human rights (Tunisian Human Rights League). Pax Christi International joins the Nobel Committee in hoping that this award will contribute towards safeguarding democracy and be an inspiration for everyone who seeks global peace.
