As Congress (which is now on its August recess) works on the FY2012 budget and tries to specify the spending cuts they promised, funding for programs of particular concern to the communities where Maryknollers live and work are vulnerable. Attention to the ongoing debate and regular communication with your members of Congress in the coming weeks will be extremely important if we are to avoid the likely tragic outcome of reducing the U.S. fiscal deficit on the backs of poor people at home and around the world.
