Video interview with Jim and Shelley Douglass, 1994 Pax Christi USA Teachers of Peace

As part of the inter-generational focus for the 50th anniversary of Pax Christi USA, Ryan Di Corpo and Isaac Chandler have organized a series of video interviews with past recipients of the annual Pax Christi USA Teacher of Peace award.

Writers and activists Jim and Shelley Douglass, Pax Christi USA’s 1994 Teachers of Peace, live at Mary’s House Catholic Worker in Birmingham, Alabama, where they offer hospitality to homeless families and participate in local actions for nonviolence and peace. In 1977, they co-founded the Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action next to the Trident nuclear submarine base near Seattle, and helped build a resistance community through the 250 towns and cities along the railroad tracks traveled by the “White Train” which transported nuclear weapons to the base.
