Our faith calls us to a commitment to work for all of God’s creation. In the journey for peace and justice, our knowledge deepens in an understanding of the connectedness of every living thing: what happens in one realm of life impacts another. Our food choices impact the use of fossil fuels: do we eat locally or is our food imported across thousands of miles? Do we eat lower on the food chain or do we have meat with almost every meal? Do we plant our own gardens using natural fertilizers and insect repellents? Our purchases impact people we may never see: Do we decline sweatshop items and buy fair trade instead? Our advocacy to end wars impacts countries unable otherwise to sustain their people’s needs when the land is defaced by weapons and their poisonous waste.
It is with great humility that we pray to our Creator God for wisdom in taking steps to share the knowledge and vision for an increased care for creation. It is with pride that we share with you Pax Christi USA’s recognition of the importance of care for creation and global restoration in our work for peace and justice.
