November 15 @ 8:00 pm 9:00 pm EST

ONLINE and in person

Zoom link below

The Power and Promise of Nonviolent Action focuses on the relevance of nonviolence as an effective way to address political crisis. The talk and its student response will consider the relationship between nonviolence and the commitments of people and communities of faith and conscience. We will ask what an active role in nonviolent struggles for a more just and peaceful world would look like for students and citizens.

Dr. Maria Stephan has an extensive career in the history and application of nonviolence. She is the former director of the program on nonviolent action at the United States Institute of Peace, is the author, with Erica Chenoweth, of the award-winning book Why Civil Resistance Works (2010), and has been an active supporter and participant in the Catholic Nonviolence Initiative.
