National conference communal fiber arts project

As part of the planning for the July 2025 national conference, all are invited to join in the Pax Christi USA communal fiber arts project!

Whether you’re a seasoned fiber artist or just starting out, we invite you to be part of something special. If you are planning to attend the Pax Christi USA national conference in Detroit in July, bring fiber squares (crocheted, knitted, quilted, etc) you’ve made at home, and together, we’ll create a beautiful, larger work of art in the name of peace.

Each square tells a story, and when we connect them, will reflect the creativity and spirit of our collective community.

If you cannot attend the conference in Detroit, feel free to mail your square to the national office by July 11 — attention Sha’Kia Smith, Pax Christi USA, 415 Michigan Avenue NE, Suite 340, Washington DC, 20017.

Some themes that we suggest if you’re stumped on what to make are:

The final piece will be assembled with the intention of displaying it at the Pax Christi USA national conference, where it will stand as a symbol of unity and peace. Share your skills, learn new techniques, and connect with fellow crafters from all walks of life.

Let’s create, collaborate, and make something meaningful, one stitch—and one square—at a time.

When you arrive at the conference on Friday, July 25, we will have baskets to collect your contributions to this communal art piece!
