Meet the 20 new Ambassadors of Peace, named in celebration of our 50th anniversary

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

In celebration of Pax Christi USA’s 50th anniversary year, the Pax Christi USA National Council has designated 20 new Ambassadors of Peace to be commissioned at the 50th anniversary national conference, August 5-7, 2022 in Washington, D.C.

These 20 new Ambassadors will join the 30 Ambassadors of Peace who have been named throughout Pax Christi USA’s history.

The 20 new Ambassadors of Peace are:

Over 50 names were submitted from the Pax Christi USA national membership, including nominations from Pax Christi state/regional chapter leaders, Pax Christi local group leaders, the Pax Christi Young Adult Caucus, Pax Christi Metro DC-Baltimore (host of the 50th anniversary national conference), Pax Christi Anti-Racism Team and alumni, and the current Pax Christi USA Ambassadors of Peace.

Ambassador of Peace is an official designation of extraordinary and experienced leaders within the Pax Christi USA community who serve as living embodiments within the movement and beyond of what it means to live a life rooted in the “peace of Christ”. They were chosen for the contributions they have made in preaching, teaching and practicing gospel nonviolence, peacemaking, anti-racism, reconciliation and justice. Ambassadors are commissioned to represent our movement through ongoing outreach efforts. They promote the mission of Pax Christi USA through word and witness, sharing our programs and campaigns with new audiences, serving as our representatives in coalitions, and generally carrying the message of Pax Christi USA wherever they go.

Pax Christi USA’s new Ambassadors will be commissioned as part of the closing Mass of the 50th anniversary national conference, celebrated by Bishop John Stowe, Pax Christi USA Bishop-President, on Sunday, August 7th.
