Pax Christi USA is turning 50 in 2022!

Together, we will be embarking on a journey of recalling our first 50 years, highlighting local groups, inviting input from our members, launching an inter-generational mentorship program, welcoming you to our in-person national conference, and pray-study-and-act-ing our way into the future. Let us begin this special “once-every-fifty-years” event by returning to our roots of Gospel nonviolence.

We invite you to the 50th Anniversary Year Kickoff Event: a 45-minute celebration and reflection on the World Day of Peace, January 1, 2022 at 8pm ET.

Join special guests, including members of our Honorary 50th Anniversary Committee, hear from the National Council, and listen to members of the 50th Anniversary Working Group as they share the theme for our Jubilee year, Weaving Peace for 50 Years.

During the event, you will have the opportunity to take the Vow of Nonviolence, co-authored by founding member Eileen Egan and Pax Christi USA Ambassador of Peace John Dear, edited by Mary Lou Kownacki, osb, and published in the summer of 1985. In preparation for our call, we encourage you to read the Vow of Nonviolence and prayerfully discern if taking the vow is a step you are called to do at this time.

The 50th Anniversary Working Group and I join you in celebrating, growing, and working together in this journey of faith and hope. We hope to see you on January 1st!

PS: And don’t forget to reserve your hotel room for the 2022 National Conference in Washington, D.C., August 5-7, 2022!
