Join Friday’s events marking the anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington

On Friday, Aug. 28, thousands of people are expected to gather on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to attend the 57^th anniversary of the March on Washington, at which the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., gave his “I Have a Dream” speech.

But you don’t have to leave the comfort of your living room to participate in the partner Virtual March on Washington and other events that day calling for racial justice.

Among the offerings:

• The Virtual March on Washington, to be held Thursday night and throughout the day on Friday, seeks commitments toward pursuing a new agenda that prioritizes equity, justice, and opportunity for all.
• The National Black Convention, organized by The Movement for Black Lives at 7 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, is focused on building power and policy in defense of Black lives.    
• Archbishop Wilton Gregory of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., is celebrating a virtual Mass of Peace and Justice in commemoration of the 1963 March on Washington at 4 p.m. Eastern Time Friday.
