____________
This pandemic crisis has made it crystal clear that we need to shift our priorities and create a world that is more peaceful, just and sustainable. It’s time we start investing in long-term strategies which embrace the principles of solidarity and nonviolence, compassion and justice. This crisis has taught us how connected we are to one another, as our Bishop-President, Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv. reminded us in his Easter 2020 message:
Most of us were hardly prepared for the vulnerability that we would come to experience this Lent (because of the coronavirus pandemic). Even though vulnerability is a constant reality for those who live with the reality of war, for those who are refugees or unwelcomed migrants, for those who lack access to health care, for those whose opportunities are routinely limited because of systemic racism and for those who lack economic stability; as Americans, we instinctively avoid any sense of vulnerability. … [This Easter] let us be mindful of our commissioning as ambassadors of peace — not a peace won by strength and might, but one gained through solidarity with all of those vulnerable and dependent upon God.
If you’re in a position to support our work, we hope you will. We know that there are many who are asking for your support and trust, and we honor the choices you make, recognizing that no matter to whom you give, you’re supporting the common work all of us have undertaken to make this world better.
If you have the means, we would welcome your support. You can click here to give quickly and securely right now.
