Christmas 2018

Dear Companions on the Journey,

If there was ever a time to proclaim peace with justice, it is now in the face of what is happening in our Church, nation, and world. We have never before experienced such negativity, fear mongering, blunt hatred, and polarization.

We need the peace of Christ to give us strength in the United States now, more than ever.

As described in our Pax Christi USA Annual Report, our national staff and dedicated national council have been faithful to the mission of working on our Four Initiatives:

  • Spirituality of Nonviolence and Peacemaking
  • Disarmament, Demilitarization, and Reconciliation with Justice
  • Economic and Interracial Justice in the United States
  • Human Rights and Global Restoration

Pax Christi USA has been maintaining our efforts to foster peace with justice by using our First Amendment right to advocate for welcoming immigrants, ending war, and supporting the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons; standing up against bigotry by offering anti-racism workshops across the country; and supporting individuals in having a spirituality of nonviolence with our original reflection booklets for every Advent and Lent. Furthermore, we were delighted to welcome Bishop John Stowe, OFM, Bishop of Lexington, Kentucky as our new Bishop President of the national council.

As we approach the Christmas season and are filled in a special way with the hope and peace of Christ, we ask that you please consider a generous gift to Pax Christi USA by clicking the “Make a Donation” button below. We need you now more than ever, and your financial support keeps us going.

Please consider becoming a member of the Sustainer’s Circle by making this a monthly donation via credit or debit card by clicking the “Make a Donation” button below. We count on this support to continue to oppose the forces of violence, racism, and war with Gospel nonviolence and Catholic Social Teaching.

May you be filled with hope this Christmas and may the peace of Christ be with you in the New Year.

Sincerely,

Sr. Patty signature

  1. Sad to say, I think I know why EWTN doesn’t do ANY publicity for Pax Christi. I’d love to believe I’m wrong, but the ideology of the network isn’t hard to decipher. Not one mention on THEIR airwaves of Servant of God Dorothy Day. I think I know why that’s true too. How I sorrow that Catholicism can be so badly, brazenly misrepresented by some elitists who while they may be very much loved and honored by the right wing politicians, ignore and are ignored by the truly devout. As Diocesan Patron of Wilmington DE so aptly put it: “There are many counterfeits but there is only one true devotion”…I will work myself to death until I reside in it, rest in it. To God be the glory. Godspeed to you all and your efforts always.
