Please keep in your prayers members of Pax Christi Little Rock who are in Puerto Rico this week to assist in repairing damage from Hurricane Maria. They have partnered with missionaries from Fort Washington Collegiate and Middle Collegiate Churches as well as Proyecto Matria in Orocovis.

The Pax Christi team reports: “They made us feel welcome and immediately at home. They shared information on the political situation in Puerto Rico as well as the state of the island post-Hurricane Maria.

“Amárilis Pagán and Kamille Pagán gave information about Proyecto Matria and Casa Solidaria. Revs. Whittaker and Lewis, pastors of Ft. Washington and Middle Collegiate Churches respectively, discussed their vision regarding Puerto Rico as well as their philosophy of unity and connection through social justice. It was truly an inspirational evening. We have been invited to Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis’ conference in NYC on April 5-7, 2019 entitled ‘Revolutionary Love: The Politics of Faith.’ We suspect that the relationships built tonight and over the next several days will extend beyond Puerto Rico and into the many philosophical areas where we hold such similar values.”

The group has already begun assisting in the roofing of two homes and clearing a garden in Humacao. They are also assessing needs in order to determine where they could be most effective on future missions to these hurricane ravaged communities.
