Dear Companions on the Journey,

A majority of the world’s countries are holding negotiations at the highest level of international governance, the United Nations, to ban nuclear weapons on March 27. This has never happened before, and it is crucial that all nations participate.

However, US government officials refuse to participate in the nuclear ban. This is problematic and a representation of our government’s terrible priorities, especially in light of President Trump’s recent proposal to increase the military budget by $54 billion.

We need to let President Trump know what we think about the United States’ refusal to show up for peace, and its active investment in war and weapons.

Attached  are three letters displaying our mortification about the US refusal to participate in the UN nuclear ban negotiations.

Please show your support for peace by signing these letters and emailing or mailing them as soon as possible to President Trump, Secretary of State Tillerson, and US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley. In addition, if you receive a response, please cc those named at the bottom of the letters.

Thank you for your efforts.

Sincerely,

Sr. Patricia Chappell, SNDdeN

  1. I’m in the Bay Area. Wouldn’t it be more effective to hold a prayer vigil and press conference the day befor to highlight our government’s refusal to participate? I would be happy to join in if other people would like to do the same.
