LISTEN: Civility, History and Hope, an interview with Vincent Harding from “On Being”

NOTE: Below is a post from March 2011 highlighting a program on one of the true giants of faith and justice from the past several decades, Vincent Harding. We’re re-posting it today in honor of Harding who passed away on May 19.

If you have not already discovered it, perhaps my favorite podcast/radio show is “Krista Tippett on Being” (formerly “Speaking of Faith”). Here is a brief description of a recent podcast featuring Vincent Harding, author, historian and civil rights giant:

As part of our Civil Conversations Project, we experience the civil rights veteran Vincent Harding. He has a long lens of wisdom on contemporary divisions and confusions. He says America is still a developing nation when it comes to democratic encounter across real difference. But he finds hope in the young people he’s been bringing into creative contact with civil rights elders for decades. They are his answer to the question that drives him: “Is America possible?”
