Sr. Dianna Ortiz, OSU has been chosen by the Board of Directors, staff and clients of the Program for Torture Victims to receive their “Human Rights Hero Award” at their Human Dignity Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Westin Bonaventure in downtown Los Angeles.
Program for Torture Victims is a human rights organization based in Los Angeles, California, dedicated to helping to rebuild the lives of torture survivors and their families through a comprehensive approach, including medical treatment, psychological counseling, assistance with winning asylum, and help finding jobs and housing.
In the letter of congratulations, Julie Gutman, Executive Director of PTV stated that “Sr. Dianna has been a tireless champion for torture survivors–from founding TASSC (Torture Abolition and Survivors Support Coalition) to her influential writings demonstrating an unrelenting commitment to advocate for all survivors.”
