We need your help today to get 12 more signers for the Dear Colleague letter on Honduras. Rep. Schakowsky has extended the deadline again – we have until 5:00 pm, today, March 8.
We need special help contacting the following Reps who signed the McGovern letter last year, but have not have not yet signed on to the current Schakowsky letter . They are Reps:
Tammy Baldwin (WI), Gwen Moore (WI), Betty Sutton (OH), Marcy Kaptur (OH), Dan Lipinski (IL), John Tierney (MA), James Langevin (RI), G. K. Butterfield (NC), Gerald E. Connolly (VA), Sheila Jackson Lee (TX), Al Green (TX), Karen Bass (CA), Xavier Bercerra (CA), Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA), Maxine Waters (CA), Judy Chu (CA), Susan A. Davis (CA), and Doris O. Matsui (CA).
Here is the full list of good remaining prospects. Please call the Legislative Director or foreign policy staffer to ask them for a decision by the deadline.
Offer to send the full list of 76 signers (click on link above) so your rep will know who has signed on so far. Also mention that seven U.S. Senators sent a letter to the St. Dept this week outlining concerns about human rights and U.S. policy Honduras as well.
If 12 of the remaining McGovern signers join signing the Schakowsky letter, we will reach a total of 88 signers, exceeding the 87 signers of the 2011 McGovern letter!
