Just as Congress is finally catching up to the American people’s desire to end the war in Afghanistan, a small group of Republicans, led by Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), is trying to ram through a provision authorizing endless war. Last month, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Buck McKeon (R-CA) was able to push through similar legislation in the House. If the Senate fails to stop Sen. McCain, Congress will authorize any administration to attack anyone, anywhere, anytime without Congressional approval or even review.

This Wednesday and Thursday, the Senate Armed Services Committee will be marking up their version of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act. Sen. McCain, the ranking member of the committee, may try to sneak his new war authorization into the larger bill. This would be the first time ever that Congress has authorized the use of military force without having a specific piece of legislation to vote up or down.
Let your Senator know that this is not the way for Congress to authorize war.
President Obama says that he neither wants nor needs this new war-making authority. This legislation is so dangerous that he has already threatened to veto it. Senators on the Armed Services Committee need to hear from us. The American people do not want more war and certainly do not want any blank checks offered to any administration authorizing more war!
Please take one minute right now and tell your Senator to oppose Senator McCain’s blank check for endless war.
War is not working. We need peace to be in concert with our Christian beliefs.
Vote against the endless war bill.
Let us take a look at history and ask ourselves where, when by whom did a war bring peace?

History tells us that war is not the answer. In all cases with patience and tolerance, we could have resolved the boundary issues in particular. We have millions of dead people, who were made in the image of God.
