MIDDLE EAST: Pax Christi International’s oral statement on Lebanon and human rights

Pax Christi International made an oral statement on Lebanon and the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), item 6, at the 16th Session of the Human Rights Council taking place in Geneva, 28 February – 25 March 2011.

The statement welcomes the significant number of recommendations with regard to torture made by states during Lebanon’s review under the UPR; it commends the government of Lebanon on accepting these recommendations and announcing a number of key reforms it is committed to for the eradication and prevention of torture.
